I recently had an interesting conversation with the director of an MBA program here in Canada, who said that his business school is focused on attracting high-performance individuals. I couldn’t agree more that such a characteristic is essential for success in business school, where an individual’s performance is crucial to the success of his/her team and the entire cohort.
Looking beyond business school, however, high performance is also important in the professional setting, once graduates enter their careers. High-performance individuals lead to high-performance teams, which in turn contribute to the creation of a high-performance organization.
Having said this, here’s my question to all aspiring business school students: In your opinion, what personality characteristics define a high-performance individual and how would you cultivate and inspire these character traits in your teammates in business school and work place?
